Private AI setup for your laptop

In short: We set up AI that runs on your own laptop, test that it works, and show you how to use it. Your documents stay on your machine. The service is quoted for each client. Contact us for a quote.

What we install#

• Ollama. This is the free, open-source app that runs AI models on your laptop. See Ollama. We install it, or check the copy you already have. LM Studio is an optional extra.
• Models that fit your laptop. We check your laptop's memory and place it in one of our four tiers. We then download only the models that fit that tier. The choice comes from our test results, not from guesses. See how we test.
• Three starter workflows. Small routines you start by double-clicking a launcher on a Mac or a Windows PC. Each reads a file, asks your local AI, and saves the result next to the file.

The workflows use prompts like the ones in our tests, adapted for daily work. Always read what the AI wrote before you use it.

How it works#

1. Scoping call. You tell us what you want to do and which laptop you have. We tell you honestly whether local AI suits the job.
2. Custom quote. We quote for your case. The service has no fixed price list. Contact us for a quote.
3. Setup. We prepare the laptop. It can be your own, or one from our shop.
4. Verification. We run a quick test of each workflow and check that all of them pass.
5. Handover. We show you how to use everything in a 30-minute call. You also get a written handover guide for your machine. It lists what is installed, how to use it, privacy notes and how to get support.

What stays private#

• The setup scripts do not send your files to us or to any cloud service.
• The scripts have no tracking. They write a log file on your own laptop.
• The workflows talk to the AI app on your own machine only.
• We set up local models only. We do not set up cloud models.
• Installing the software and downloading models needs an internet connection. After that, your documents are handled on your laptop.

Ollama says it does not see your prompts or data when you run locally. Our local AI guide explains what "local" means and where the limits are.

Honest limits#

Cloud AI is still stronger and easier for most jobs. Local AI wins when documents must stay private, when you want no fee per use, and when you need to work offline. If your jobs need the strongest model available, we will say so on the scoping call.

Do I need to be technical? No. We set it up, and the handover call and guide show you the daily steps.

Which laptop do I need? It depends on the jobs. Read how much memory you need and browse the laptop list. If you are unsure, tell us what you have on the scoping call.

Can I buy a laptop from you? Yes. Braynex Services Ltd sells refurbished laptops. See our shop. Each item links to its scorecard when it has one. Buying a laptop is not required for the setup.

Will my data leave my laptop? Not through our setup. See "What stays private" above.

Is local AI as good as the big cloud services? Usually not. See "Honest limits" above.

What does it cost? We quote for each client after the scoping call.
